Allah 'a3zza wa Jall said, "Indeed the Good deeds wash away the Bad deeds" (Surah Hud: 114). Then, based on this, if the person does a good deed after a bad deed, then the good deed washes it away and erases it even if the good deed is the repentance from that sin, for the repentance erases what comes before it.
Allah, the Blessed and Most High, said: "Say: "O 'Ibâdî (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allâh, verily Allâh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" (Az-Zumar 39:53).
