فوا عجبا لسنة تأتي فيها الأحاديث الكثيرة ثم يهملها كثير من الناس بل كثير من الفقهاء فهذه خيبة عظيمة
It is so strange that so many Ahadeeth regarding a Sunnah is mentioned and then lots of people neglect it even lots of fuqaha' neglect it, this is a great disappointment.
عن بكر المزني قال: " لما كانت فتنة ابن الأشعث قال طلق بن حبيب: اتقوها بالتقوى. فقيل له: صف لنا التقوى، فقال: العمل بطاعة الله، على نور من الله، رجاء ثواب الله، وترك معاصي الله، على نور من الله، مخافة عذاب الله."
From Bakr al-Majinee said, "When trail of Ibn Al-Ash3ach (took place), Talaq bin Habeeb said, "Stay away from it by the fear of Allah (with Taqwa of Allah)", so it was said to him, describe for us the taqwa, so he said, "(it is) working in obedience of Allah, upon a light from Allah, hoping reward of Allah, and leaving of disobedience of Allah, upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah".
قال الذهبي: أبدع وأوجز، فلا تقوى إلا بعمل، ولا عمل إلا بتروٍ من العلم والاتباع، ولا ينفع ذلك إلا بالإخلاص لله، لا ليقال: فلان تارك للمعاصي بنور الفقه، إذ المعاصي يفتقر اجتنابها إلى معرفتها، ويكون الترك خوفا من الله لا ليمدح بتركها، فمن داوم على هذه الوصية فقد فاز.
Adhdhahabe said, (Describing what al-Majinee said) "He excelled and briefed, there is no taqwa except with action, and there is no action except with contemplation from the knowledge and the following (of it), and that does not benefit except with ikhlas (sincerity) to Allah, so it should not be said, "so and so neglects to the transgressions (is based on the) light of understanding, because the sin is lack of its avoidance to its knowledge, and the leaving is (based on) fear of Allah, not for the praise of leaving them, So, whoever persists upon this advice, then Indeed he has succeed.
